U.S. Position Limits
The U.S. Position Limits Working Group has met regularly for the last several years on issues relating to the CFTC’s effort to establish a new federal position limits regime for designated futures contracts and economically equivalent swaps. The committee also monitors developments in exchange-administered position limits programs. Recent work includes preparing remarks for FIA before the CFTC’s Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee on position limits, commenting on the CFTC’s proposals for the aggregation of positions and exchange-administered exemptions for non-enumerated bona fides hedges for purposes of the federal position limits, and articulating appropriate means for exchanges to calculate deliverable supply in regional power markets.
